“Who are you? You can’t be my bride, you’re an Indian!”

Ned Hazlitt has it all figured out. After sixteen years in the army, he’s ready to become a civilian. He’s going to start a business and get married. His brother’s mail-order marriage turned out well, and as Ned is in a hurry, he decides that a mail-order bride will work for him too.

Ned’s plans don’t turn out quite the way he expected, and when he first sets eyes on the woman who’s arrived in Dalton to be his wife, she’s holding a rifle and it’s aiming straight at his head.

What he was expecting was a dainty, demure wife who’d do his bidding. He didn’t plan on a Shoshone wife, and Catherine Pelatier doesn’t intend to be anything other than what she is.

Is Ned willing to take the risk, or does he give up on the best thing that’s ever happened to him?

This is book 2 in the Brides of Dalton series, which can be read as a stand alone or a part of the series.

Catherine Unexpected Indian Mail Order Bride MailOrder Bride Brides Of Dalton Book 2 edition by Bethany Rose Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

I was disappointed. The story was good, but there were too many four-letter words; and too many implied sex scenes. Not to my taste in reading and I will be deleting Ms. Rose's books from my library! Too Bad--I would have enjoyed the stories, I'm sure.
Wow what a lovely storie just the tripe of bride headstrong Ned needed a very lovely story easy reading with a very nice story line a very nice book for any customer who love clean mail orde bride stories. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
Catherine Unexpected Indian Mail Order Bride by Bethany Rose was a delightful story that was different from any other mail order bride story that I have read. Everyone in Dalton was surprised when Ned’s mail order bride showed up and was half Indian. Catherine Pelatier is a young woman of few words but what she says is powerful. Can the town of Dalton see beyond her national origin to accept her into their community? There are lessons we can all learn from this story.
Disclosure I received an e-copy of this book and leaving a review is voluntary. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own.
What a great book this was. I very much enjoyed reading it and had to finish once I had started it, I just couldn't put it down. Very well written and one of the most enjoyable mail order bride books I have read, and I have read a few. I also received a free novelette for joining Bethany Rose's newsletter which was well worth a 5 star review itself, and on the strength of these two books I bought 'Louisa' and will review that soon as well. I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily - and very happily - read it and am now reviewing it.
Very sweet book of longing, belonging, and home. Well written that has the ability of expansion . Well written, simple in its elegance (like aunt Dove). Not at all what I expected by the cover. You where able to enjoy the characters (which is rare in a shorter book, usually they are sacrificed for the storyline). The characters where honest, real. What you would expect in situations like they where presented. I was expecting a lot of typos as this edition I read was not edited, but I got too engrossed in the story to bother with editing. Well done, and less than an 1 hour read before bedtime (sorry I like a longer book).
This is an honest review, I received a free copy in exchange for my input and as part of an ARC group
A sweet short story.
Ned Hazlitt has returned home having spent 16 years serving in the US army. He buys the local store and seeing how happy his brother is with his mail order bride he decides to do the same reasoning that a wife will also be able to help with the store's day to day running. A Miss Catherine Pelliato replies to his advertisement.
Ned accepts Catherine to be his future wife and heads off to buy some new lines for the store. Imagine his shock on his return when he finds his wife to be already in his home and she is half Indian too, a fact not disclosed in advance.
Will they be able to not only make a go of things but also overcome the prejudices of the townsfolk of Dalton.
I received a complimentary ARC and this is my voluntary review
I am freely reviewing this ARC copy.

First, let me say I have liked both mail order bride books. This one is a great follow up, since we get a chance to see how Stew and Louisa are doing as they are nearing the end of waiting for their first child to be born. Family is a very positive focus in this second book about Ned, Stew's older brother, and his bride,Catherine, who is half French and half Shoshone. She is an enigma to Ned as they marry and try to get to know each other. It is clear her experiences have forged a determined, classy woman but a vulnerable one unable to let down her defenses. Ned and she are point and counter point. The story reveals how Dalton, its roots very conservative, and how Ned come to value this beautiful woman Catherine, Ned's bride, as a killer winter Wyoming storm, a birth, and a Grand Opening of Ned and Catherine's store meet. New life emerges all the way around in Dalton.

Great book. Quiet yet filled with passion.
